Kunstparade i Solidaritet med Palæstina
Art Parade in solidarity with Palestine

An art parade initiated by Samara sallam and Til Vægs
November 2023 to March 2024

On March 30, 2024, coinciding with the Palestinian Land Day, artist Samara Sallam and platform Til Vægs organized the "Kunstparade i Solidaritet med Palæstina" in Copenhagen. This event aimed to celebrate Palestinian culture, to create an alternative place in the city to grow solidarity and connections, and advocate for the official recognition of "Palæstina Plads" (Palestine Square) in Nørrebro, which was officially recognised in 2025.

In the five months leading up to the parade, a diverse community of artists and cultural workers gathered weekly at Til Vægs' premises in Nørrebro. These sessions involved communal meals, discussions, and collaborative creation of artistic elements such as banners, masks, and a large white kite adorned with thousands of white ribbons, each representing a Palestinian child killed in Gaza.

The parade started at Nørrebros Runddel, proceeding silently towards Palæstina Plads. Participants carried artworks featuring Palestinian symbols and solidarity imagery. The silent procession aimed to contrast with the often loud political demonstrations, emphasizing collective mourning and solidarity.
